Thirsty Thursday! Mardi Gras Edition!

IT'S MARDI GRAS TIME!!!!

Welcome to Thirsty Thursday. The last Thursday of every month we come by and link up our party ideas!! Since Mardi Gras is coming up I figured this month we would have a Mardi Gras theme. There's no party like a Mardi Gras party!!!

First off, if you don't know about Kiki La'Rue you should. They have the cutest clothes and I might have to stop following them on Instagram and Facebook because I'm broke and can't buy all the things!! But....they posted this picture the other day and I thought, "That would be the perfect Mardi Gras outfit!!!" and had to share with you!

Love it!! And the colors are perfect for a Mardi Gras night out on the town!!

If you're going to party you have to decorate. And I found the easiest DIY project ever!! These cute little trees would be perfect for your table decor!! Just get some colored wire and twist them around a styrofoam cone, or just wrap them around your curling wand!! Or, you could go to etsy and buy them.

I also knew I couldn't do a Mardi Gras party without some crawfish!! I looked around Pinterest and found these awesome looking crawfish beignets that I want in my mouth right meow. I'm not even sure I like crawfish, but I would so totally eat these!

And the recipe looks hellah easy, too. You know me...if it's easy and tasty it's in my mouth. twss

And of course, you can't have a Mardi Gras Party without some DRANKS!! The Hurricane is the official drink of New Orleans, but it's totally not pretty, so...I found some King Cake Jelly Shots!!!

Not sure exactly if I would take this, not enough alcohol for Mardi Gras, but they sure as hell sound yummy and look amazeballs!!

The website gives you three different ways to make the shots, so you can take your pick. One is way more involved than the others, but if you have time and you're up to it, they look fantabulous! I would totally add more liquor though, haha.

And....I found this gem that I also want in my mouth right now. Please tell me this does not look awesome...

It's called Muses Rum Punch and I can't wait to make it!! Oh...and drink that shit!! Hopefully, somewhere on a beach with the sun in my face. Mostly because it's so cold I can't feel my hands as I write this.

OK your turn!! Go link up and tell me about your Mardi Gras partay!!!

Tomorrow is Mardi Gras!!...well kinda

Tomorrow is Thirsty Thursday!! The theme this month is Mardi Gras!! I'm super excited there are sooooo many cute things out there that I have already found! I even have an outfit for you to wear!! Don't forget it doesn't have to be a drink!! It can be party decorations, recipes, nail ideas, song lists....anything that can go with a Mardi Gras partay!!

Sorry I've been a little MIA this week. I decided to consult with the principal about taking over our school website because the person they had in charge of it knows very little about computers. (I love her to death but I literally had to teach her how to add a folder to her desktop yesterday. hahaha.) So what used to happen was, I had to go teach her, which usually took about 30-40 minutes, when I could literally do it myself in about 5. So, I ended up having to spend more time to teach and I was really just doing it myself, anyway.

What I didn't realize, however, is that I wouldn't be able to just take over the website that was already in use. The guy who had started it had it set up with a bunch of the other sites for our county. So, apparently, I have to create a whole new one....from scratch...but ultimately it's going to be much easier for me to just handle the website anyway rather than someone at a completely different school who has no idea what goes on at our place.

So, needless to say, that has been soooo time consuming. But, my website is clearly going to look 10000000% better. If I do say so myself.....at least in my opinion. Not that the other was bad at all...just a little confusing and very colorful!!

Anyway, I don't see it getting any better any time soon, plus I'm having writers block like a bitch....but hopefully I can overcome all that and I'll be back soon!!

National Margarita Day!!

This weekend was a blast!! Unfortunately, Mike had to work and couldn't participate that much, but I tried to get along without him......................................................*wink, wink*

First off let me remind you that THIRSTY THURSDAY is this week!! Our theme is Mardi Gras since  March is the big Mardi Gras month and that is the ultimate party!! I'm super excited! I also have an awesome cohost this week!! Chelsee, who is fabulous and cohosted at least 2 times before will be joining me again!! REMEMBER: it doesn't have to be a drank, it can be party decorations, appetizers, desserts, whatever you fancy!!

OK so back to the weekend...

This was the first warm weekend we have had since God knows when and it was GORGEOUS! The temperature stayed at 60ยบ or above for the whole weekend and I was in love!! Don't mind the dust in my car...we all know how much of a hermit I have been lately. The weather was only a teasing whore, however, because now they are calling for more snow. Which sucks because we got our electric bill and it was over $300 again so we won't be turning our heat back on. lol.

Friday night I made some AHHMAZEBALLS copycat Chick-Fil-A nuggets before Mike went to work. Don't worry they are healthy!!! Don't mind the shells and cheese on the side. I have been craving some mac-and-cheese like nobody's business. Thanks to Sunny Anderson because she made some that looked awesome last weekend on The Kitchen. And have no fear, I will be posting the recipe tomorrow along with the copycat Chick-Fil-A sauce my husband made.

When Mike headed to work I ran to the store to get the stuff to make my homemade salsa for the Margarita Party on Saturday. While I was chopping everything up my neighbor called for some unexpected craziness. So when I was done I headed over there. My neighbor has 2 kids and her best friend was also there with her 2 kids. And then our other neighbor brought her little girl over, too. The kids got all dressed up and gave us menus and fake money where we chose which girl scout cookies we wanted. Then they put on a dance for us and everyone got a little wild. Including Miss Kristin. Eventually things started to die down and all the sudden we walked into the living room to find all of the kids, except the 2 year old, asleep. The 2 year old was going strong! haha.

A few of us decided to just across the street and continue the party so our neighbor could put her 2 year old to bed. After a few more dranks and then a few more beers after that we decided to break it up at about 2am. You never know what might happen when there is unexpected fun involved. Luckily The Notebook was on and so I sobered up while watching my favorite chick flick.

Saturday was NATIONAL MARGARITA DAY!!!!! So naturally, we celebrated. One thing I absolutely love about this neighborhood are the friendships we have made with everyone around us. It turns out many of our neighbors are people I knew from a previous part of life. Our neighbor across the street was even best friends with my brother for the majority of their younger lives. There is always something to do and someone there for some fun and I can't wait until spring so the parties can begin. It couldn't have been a nicer day for a Margarita Party and it was a blast!

I decided to call it a night early, though. Everyone else went back to my neighbors house for a bonfire, but I was exhausted. Pretty sure the mixture of wine, liquor, and beer from the night before had something to do with it. haha. I guess that's a glimpse of what I'm in for this summer and I'm beyond excited for it!! I'll do my best to prepare a little better.

Sunday was meal prep and grocery shopping. Boost tried to help me plan but I guess I bored him because he found a nice pillow on my arm. He's cute though.

So that's it. My eventful, fun-filled, WARM weekend!!

Boys Behind the Blog!!

It's my first time participating in the Boys Behind the Blog linkup!! Every single month I read them and totally forget but it's always so fun to hear about my blogger friends men. They're just as exciting as mine!!

Mal Smiles

However, I forgot to get Mike to answer the questions last night so I talked to Rosco this morning and he was more than willing...

1. If you could live anywhere where would you live? You know that room upstairs where Mom and Dad let me lay on the couch with them. There. Definitely there.

2. Sand or Snow? UUhhhhh SNOW!! That stuff is amazing!! You can eat it, and play in it!! And it's like a big cold bed! Mommy and Daddy think it's fun to have snowball fights with me. I can't fight back though. So I just jump on them and pin them down!!

3. What winter Olympic sport would you rock at? Pshh....figure skating. Hands down! I know what you're thinking..."But, you're such a macho, manly dog!"...hello...ballet for balance!! I've even been working on my triple axel!! LOOK!!

4. You're cooking a romantic dinner, what is your go-to dish? Oh definitely the Blue Wilderness Salmon Recipe!! It says, "I'm formal, but I'm here to party." in a way like no other. Shows the lady friends that I can be sweet and adventurous.

5. Fill in the Blank: This year, for Valentine's Day, I gave mom and dad a free upgrade to the dog bed they just bought me. Now it looks awesome!! And feels even better! Although, I don't think they liked it so much....

Not Always Rainbows and Butterflies...

In honor of this past Valentine's Day I thought I would take the time to bash my husband a little more. haha.

So we have been home together for the past 6 days. For those of you who may be new to the blog my husband is a night shifter. So on most days we spend about 2 hours together. Well...I've been off work since last Thursday, and....he had the weekend off. So we've literally spent the last 6 days together other than the 12 hours he went to work on Monday night. Waaaay too much time. lol.

I guess you just get used to being alone some times, and when he's always there......aaalllllwaaayyyss...you don't get to do the things you normally would. Like watch stupid reality shows and blog. And I can't say that he's messy, because I'm probably just as messy, considering we both like things clean.

And the fact that we spent 2 of those days on "vacation" in a hotel room being all lovey for V-Day...ugh. That just made it worse. Think about how special those days would have been if he left me alone to go to work the next day!! But no...we went home and continued this love affair....together....for 2 more days...

And the stupid punk thinks he can just walk in the living room, pick up the remote, and change House Hunters. Who is he?!? And when did he become so obsessed with the Olympics?!?! I mean I get the snowboard cross and bobsled...that's intense...but figure skating?? I'm sorry....Ice dancing?? This mofo knows more about that 'ish than me!! haha. "Why aren't you excited? Scott Hamilton is commentating!"..............*eyebrow raise*............."Excuse me?"

Not to mention I eat like a slob when I'm with him. He always thinks of these amazing things we could do. Like make steak sandwiches with mayo and horseradish, and eat chips, or Juicy Lucy's, and have pizza delivered, and hit up happy hour for some beers and loaded fries!! How can you turn that down?!?! We made brownies last night. Oh! And then bought ice cream and chocolate syrup because who can have brownie a la mode without that?!?! Seriously?!?!?!?!?!

But I love him. And he's my best friend....

...even though I could seriously kill him some time.

V-Day Weekend Shenanies!!

My weekend officially started on Thursday last week!! Whoop Whoop!! And we had off today so I had a 5 day weekend!! Mike and I had planned on going to Ocean City for our Valentine's getaway. We usually do it every year, but weren't sure we were going to get to this year. But we had 2 snow days last week so I didn't even have to take a day off and we couldn't beat the deal!!

The Holiday Inn Oceanfront does an amazing deal. $106 for a jacuzzi suite and that includes a $50 voucher for their restaurant called Hemmingways. Can't beat that!! The food is always amazeballs and we take a nice soak in the tub with some dranks and just relax. Last year we found an awesome taphouse but it wasn't open when we were there. Luckily, this year they were open so we headed there first for some beer flights and appetizers.

We stopped on the way back to the hotel for some Dogfish Head Vodka. If you have heard of Dogfish Head you probably have only heard of their beers. Well, they make liquor, too!! I think it's only sold around the Rehobeth area, however, because we've never seen it anywhere else. It's soo delish, though!!

After we made a few dranks and soaked in the tub for a while we started to get ready for dinner. Hemmingway's is a really nice restaurant, plus it's V-Day so we dressed up a little. Mike had the filet and I got Chicken Chesapeake, both of which were so amazing. The filet just melted in your mouth and there was so much crab meat on my Chicken Chesapeake. YUM!!

We took dessert back up to the room and stayed in. Mike is so obsessed with the Olympics. haha. I don't ever remember him being this bad. And it's not just the manly sports. We're sitting here watching figure skating as I type. lol. So we sat around, drank, watched the Olympics and ate Fritos all night long. lol.

Needless to say i was a tad bit hungover the next morning but we walked to our favorite breakfast joint and got some sausage, egg, and cheese bagels. YUM!!! Then, we took a quick stroll on the Boardwalk and played some Big Buck Hunt. I beat Mike, naturally. At everything. Except Skee-ball.

We eventually went on our way home and met Mike's uncle and his wife for lunch and a few beers in Rehobeth on the way. It was all I could do to keep my eyes open on that hour long drive after a belly full of good food and beer but...that sweet soft bed when we got home was well worth the wait!!

Except for the fact that a migraine kicked in and I couldn't shake it, nor could I fall asleep. haha. Figures. lol.

Saturday was another success. We went to the gym and I worked it out. I'm still in a ton of pain. I actually didn't feel like I got in a great workout but....I pretty much can't walk today so...I guess it worked. Then, we met up with some friends for an unexpected epic night. haha. Those are the best. We were heading to a local bar and stopped by to pick up our friend Jason. His friend had called him and we met up with her for a drink at another bar, which lead us to a bar down the street from that. When they closed we got to our original destination and that might be where it starts getting a little broken. We ended up going back to Jason's house where he and Mike got in a wrestling match and his girlfriend and I talked about god knows what for the remainder of the night. I think Mike and I are still piecing everything together. lol.

But it was fun!!

Until yesterday.....

Recipe: Beef and Broccoli...Yum!!

So Mike and I have been trying a bunch of new recipes out and we're always suckers for some Chiiiineeeeese!! When I came across this one last week on Pinterest I knew it was a go and she did not disappoint!! Yes, it's a she. She tastes gooooooood!!

Beef with Broccoli
over white rice
Sorry this is a bad pic....again...
INGREDIENTS:
For the beef:
2 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp water
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 lb. boneless round steak cut into small slivers or strips
2 tbsp vegetable oil

For the rest:
1 tbsp vegetable oil
a few bunches of broccoli
1 tbsp cornstarch
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup soy sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp ground ginger

DIRECTIONS:
Steam broccoli in microwave for a few minutes or saute' until tender.

In a bowl, combine cornstarch, water, and garlic powder for the beef. Stir until smooth. Add beef strips into the mixture and coat the beef with it. Stir fry beef in vegetable oil in wok or non-stick skillet until it's done enough for your liking. Remove and keep warm.

Stir fry broccoli in remaining vegetable oil for about 3-4 minutes. While it's cooking combine cornstarch, water, soy sauce, brown sugar, and ground ginger until smooth. Add beef back to pan when broccoli is done. Add cornstarch mixture and let cook for about 3 more minutes stirring through.

Serve over white rice!!

YUM!!!

5 on Friday!!!

So this is the first time ever that I have done 5 on Friday but I always see everyone doing it and wanted to join in!!

1. My bestie heads out on deployment again tomorrow. I called her last night to wish her well and she sounded really sad. She and her boy toy started dating about a year ago and she has to leave him behind. He actually just got out of the Navy or else he would have been on the ship with her. She'll hopefully be back in October and I'm pretty sure (definitely sure) he'll put a ring on it. Yay!! So happy she found a nice guy.

2. It didn't snow this week!!! I'm sooooooo over the snow and cold I can't even tell you. Well...I know I have told you like 4907498064 times lately but...you get it. They had called for a ton of snow for us over this last week but fortunately nothing hit where I live.

3. The whole family is home this weekend for my mom's birthday. We're going to do a little get together tomorrow night at her house and bring food and cake and presents. Hopefully we'll go out a little and do some celebrations afterwards. It's always hard, though because Mom won't come and it's her birthday so we end up all leaving her. Maybe we'll stay in this year.

4. I failed at working out this week. I didn't do one thing. Not even in the least. Unless you call walking to the refrigerator and the movement of eating working out. Oh well...maybe next week.

5. 2nd grade is on a field trip today which means I get an extra planning period!! Simple pleasures, simple pleasures. lol. Maybe I'll get some blogging done so I can stop being such a slacker!!

A is for abnoxious....

OK so I saw this a few weeks back and I thought it was cute. You take the ABC's and then give a word for each letter that describes you. I'm starting this but can guarantee I'm either going to get bored or just take 8 years to finish it. But I hope you love it whenever it gets published. haha.

A - ADHD (I know obnoxious doesn't start with "A" sillies). Anxious (see FDS #5).

B - Brilliant! And maybe bossy. BIG SPOON!!

C - Crazy...but not like in a medical kind of way.

D - Dope. Yup...I said it...

E - Are there describing words for "E"? Oh!! Energetic!!! Energetic!! I feel like I'm in middle school.

F - Fiesty. Frugal. Fantabulous. Freakin' awesome! And I guess....Full of myself on this one.

G - Geeky. Goofy.

H - Honest. humble-er-ish...kinda, maybe.

I - Intelligament. Impulsive. Immature. Impatient.

J - Joyous?? What words start with "j"??

K - Kristin!!!!!!

L - Lazy. Lush. Lover...daaawww....

M - Mischievous.

N - Naughty...reow. Nervous....

O - Obnoxious!! With an "O". Outstanding!!

P - Paranoid. Perky. Procrastinator.

Q - Quirky. Quiet...Pssshyeah right!!

R - Radiant. Think Charlotte's Web. Ridiculous. Rambunctious. Ravens!!

S - "Stinky" short for "Stink Bug" Mike's nickname for me. It does not reflect my aroma...I don't think.

T - Talkative. Tight. Like in a monetary kind of way. Teacher!!

U - Unusual.

V - Vodka......... MMmmmmmmmmm vodka....

W - Whiny.

X - Xylophone. It's the only "X" word I know.

Y - YYyyyyy.... Yyyyyyyyyy... no clue. Are there adjectives that start with "Y"???

Z - Zany (is that how you spell it???)

Aww that was kind of fun. I read some to Mike and he said...wow you really love yourself don't you?? Loser... OOhh!! Maybe I'l do the ABC's of Mike one day. That would be awesome!!

Now you do it!!
