Giveaway: #TrackTheTank

You ladies...and gentleboys, if you're out there, although this doesn't really apply to you...are really in for a treat!!! If you haven't heard about this yet, listen up betches!!

Tia from Hands On, Pants Off and Candra from Camo & Lipstick came up with this amazing idea to allow bloggers to share their motivation and fitness journey with their readers. And...instead of the typical link-up...they are bringing this "link-up" to life with a traveling tank top!!

Kind of like "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants", the tank top will travel all over the United States and into the hands of 26 bloggers, including me (ahhhhhhh!!!). Each blogger will take a "selfie" with the tank, sign a special message, and then make a blog post about the motivation that helps them through each day.

Image Map
I'm super stoked because some of the women that will receive this tank are my biggest motivators and I feel honored to be involved in something like this with them. I can't wait to read each of the participants blog posts and look forward to hearing what keeps them going every day.

So where does the giveaway come in?? At the end of it all, one lucky reader will have the opportunity to receive this tank. Don't worry, we promised not to sweat in it!!

Wanna see my tank selfie?!?! Here it is!!!

Sorry about the face....we all know I can't just smile in a picture. We went to the track on Saturday and since I spend almost every Saturday of my summer there anyway, I thought it was appropriate. Plus...its the track...and we're TRACKing the Tank!! Or something....yeah....

So far it's traveled from Candra in New Hampshire, to Erin in Maine, then to Ang in New Jersey, and finally to ME here in Maryland!!! And by the time it's done, it will have traveled to all of these bloggers:

And now, on to my motivation!!

So...I'm going to be totally cliche' here and tell you that, my motivation is....my husband. I know, I know....but what chick doesn't want to look good for her husband?!? Yeah, yeah, I know what they say "you should do it for you!!" but the truth is, doing it for him is doing it for me.

Being naked in front of someone takes a lot of confidence, even if it is your husband. And not only being naked, but feeling pretty in general. For me, I don't feel beautiful unless I think others feel the same way about me.

Sounds sad, but we all have it. It's the same reason that girls dress for other girls. We want others to think we're pretty, or trendy...whatever look you're going for. Otherwise, we would only have a wardrobe of yoga pants and oversized t-shirts. You want someone else to think you're beautiful.

And for me, Mike thinking I'm beautiful, is the best feeling in the world.

So now...the tank heads to Jasmine in Virginia!! Follow along on our journey!

Join us every Tuesday at 7am (MST). This blog hop focuses on content. LINK UP YOUR FAVORITE POST from last week in this fun content-sharing blog hop! I love the idea of blog hopping, but I love the idea of reading posts and quality content on new blogs I've never been to even more. Instead of simply linking up your blog button, you are now able to link up your favorite post you recently wrote. Have a delicious recipe to share, DIY tutorial, or heartfelt post? Share it with us! All hosts and co-hosts put up some unique and fun content from the past week. Make sure to check them out. P.S.- you may still link up your blog button and blog name, but it is encouraged to link up your favorite post instead. You will get more page views and interest if you do so! Some of the most successful blog hops I have participate in focus on content rather than just exchanging follows. You never know who will become a loyal follower or pin that delicious new recipe you posted!

The BEST part of this blog hop? Each week there will be a WINNER! That's right, each week we will choose one lucky blog to feature from the previous week's hop. This hop receives thousands of page views every week, so your blog will have the chance to be center stage for free. You must follow all the hosts and co-hosts in order to win. Only those who link up a specific post are eligible to be featured! *You must follow all the hosts and co-hosts in order to win.

The last exciting change is that the co-host spots will now be available to all sponsors of  The Dwelling Tree or Southern Beauty Guide. If you are interested in co-hosting the blog hop, email Tiffany or Chelsee about sponsorship opportunities and how to co-host the weekly hop!

Hi everyone! This is Tiffany this week. Thank you all once again for continually linking up at our blog hop. It is such a fun time and I am so impressed each week with all the amazing posts. Please continue to link up an actual post instead of your blog. We want to keep reading your content and it makes it more fun to pick a winner!

... onto the winner!

As I scrolled through all the delicious posts my eyes caught this one. Perhaps it is because I have always been interested in fostering a child, but I wanted to read the post. What I would soon discover is that this little post would leave me almost in tears. Jennifer, the writer of this post, did a magnificent job of uncovering many of the stereotypes and assumptions of the kinds of homes foster kids come from, and gave me a new perspective and grace for all those involved in the foster system. This was a deep, heartfelt, and loving post. If you are considering fostering, adopting, or know a family going through the process, read this post. This is a very interesting and lovely perspective of the power of love.

The blog is filled with inspirational and real posts about life. Bookmark it for posts that will lift up your day. I am so excited to have a new daily read!

Keep posting awesome content! You make it so fun for us to read all your posts! If you can, please link up a specific post. It makes it easier for us to come and visit!

Friday 5

ONE.
My niece celebrated her 5th birthday this week!! I can't believe she is growing up so fast!! We were reminiscing about the day she was born on at her birthday dinner. I remember it like it was yesterday. This year she's starting Kindergarten!! She's the perfect little girl and I couldn't be happier to be her Auntie.

TWO.
I finally got my butt in gear and did some stuff around the house. A few weekends ago I painted some accent walls and then the next weekend Mike and I painted the dining room. We hung the curtains last weekend and even hung up some more things on the walls. We're just waiting on our desk and a few other things and it will really be coming together!!

THREE.
OK, so this kinda consists of last week, but since I didn't post it last week I'm doing it now. Our best friends had a baby!!! He's adorable and I love him and he's the cutest thing ever and I miss him already. His name is Aiden. The whole name story is kinda funny, but long so I won't bore you, but...long story short, they had 2 names picked out and couldn't decide. Out of the blue, in the hospital, came Aiden. He fits it and he's so adorbs. And now...Mike wants one....

FOUR.
Next week is the last week of Horizons. Thank God. I feel like I am getting really burned out. Then, I only have two weeks and it's back to school. I'm not sure what I'm going to be doing next year. I really like having something to do in the summertime, but I think working with kids the whole time is getting to me. We'll have to see what happens.

FIVE.
I took the "kids" to D.C. this week to go to the Museum of American History. It was fun and it reminded me of how much I miss doing stuff like that. Mike and I used to go and do stuff back in the day and D.C. to visit the museums was always a good time. Plus, they are free, so you can't beat that.

So that's it!! Cheers to the freakin weekend!!

Book Review: Dark Places

Girls...I have been reaaaddddING!! Not like I don't always read, but it usually takes me a while to read a book. I just find better things to do or am too lazy to get up and grab my Kindle so I just watch tv instead.

But....Since summer school started, I have been making my kids silent read. And, when my kids read, I read. It shows them that I'm not just making them do something just to do it. I do it, too!! And I love it!!!

So last week I got done Tempting Fate. It was super good. And, while I was waiting on my next book to come out and get delivered to my Kindle I decided to read Dark Places by Gillian Flynn in between. It's one that I have been wanting to read and just hadn't gotten around to it.

Here is the Goodreads synopsis:

Libby Day was just seven years old when her evidence put her fifteen-year-old brother behind bars.

Since then, she had been drifting. But when she is contacted by a group who are convinced of Ben's innocence, Libby starts to ask questions she never dared to before. Was the voice she heard her brother's? Ben was a misfit in their small town, but was he capable of murder? Are there secrets to uncover at the family farm or is Libby deluding herself because she wants her brother back?

She begins to realise that everyone in her family had something to hide that day... especially Ben. Now, twenty-four years later, the truth is going to be even harder to find.

Who did massacre the Day family?

OK, so....first off...this book is hella disturbing, but...much like a train wreck, you can't turn away. There's sex, lies, drugs, murder, devil worship.....you name it, it's in here. And, it was AWESOME!! I loved it. I felt kinda dirty reading it when my kids did...kinda like reading 50 Shades of Grey in public only not really S&M stuff, just lots of all that crap I just mentioned... and I hoped they didn't ask me what my book was about, like they usually do, because I would have had to pretty much leave out 95% of it.

I totally recommend it. Actually, I recommend anything that Gillian Flynn writes, but this was something I thought I might have to stop reading. And that's what kept me interested. If that makes any sense.

I think probably the number one thing that attracts me to blog post are the pictures. In Ashley's post she had tons of amazing pictures of her trip. I personally am a big fan of travel, but I give this woman props for spending what typically would be a honeymoon taking her husband to see a sports event in Cincinnati. Don't fret ladies she does plan on taking a honeymoon next year, but still I give her props for postponing it. This is true love I tell you! Anyways, Ashley is from Nashville as her blog name suggests. She blogs about Life, Food, Fashion and much more!

I just love her blog and this post was too funny. The picture above shows a flyer they discovered and her husband instagramed. I thought it was too funny and I have hopes that the one that put the flyer out was not serious. I find her writing style to be a mix that is very entertaining to read. I can't wait to read more of her posts and I know that you will all love her blog! I loved following her trip around Cincinnati and even how they walked with a tourist group, I mean come on this is too genius right? Well I won't give any more of it away, you will all just have to head over and read it all for yourselves! Make sure you head over and check it out!

Recipe: Fruit Salsa with Cinnamon Chips

OK, so I have been meaning to write this recipe for-ev-er and I have just been a huge slacker. Can you tell?!?! Sorry, summer school and home and actually getting motivated to do things around my house have been taking over.

- Example: as I write this, I just opened up a new tab to check out Craigslist and got caught up for about 30 minutes. Can you say ADHD???-
* Update: I started writing this about 2 weeks ago intending to post it the next day....I told myself I would add the picture in the morning....it's now two weeks later...yeah. The struggle is real, folks...

Anywhoooooo....I made this for Book Club this month and it was a hit. I was a little nervous because I didn't really follow a recipe, I just kinda threw in all the crap I thought would taste good. And...it worked!!

Fruit Salsa with Cinnamon Chips

INGREDIENTS:
for the salsa:
1 lb. strawberries
2 golden delicious apples, skin off
1 1/2 cups blueberries
1 cup raspberries
1 cup blackberries
1 tbsp. Sweet'n Low
*All of these measurements can be adjusted to fit your liking.

for the chips:
5-6 medium sized tortillas
cinnamon sugar

DIRECTIONS:
for the salsa:
Cut up strawberries and apples into bite sized pieces. Add blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. Sprinkle on Sweet'n Low. Let sit for at least an hour.

for the chips:
Preheat oven to 325º. Cut each tortilla into eighths. Place on a baking sheet sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Spray cooking spray over the "chips". Sprinkle cinnamon sugar on each "chip". Bake for about 15 minutes or until brown and crisp. You need to make sure they are hard. Otherwise they don't break like a chip.

Enjoy!!

I am in love with Meg's blog, meg-made. I feel like we should be friends in real life! I just relate to every post she writes, and love her recipes. I wanted to spend my whole morning reading her blog, but my naked tot started hitting her Super Why action figures all over the place, and I realized I should feed her some breakfast and get her in some clothes! But truly, go check out Meg's awesome blog. She is a lovely person, as you will come to find out.

I fell in love with her birthday party for her sweet daughter, Madeleine. She shared many of the same feelings I felt when my daughter turned two- it happens so fast! She talked about living away from family and how hard that can be. But, oh- look at the theme and decor! She did an amazing job recreating her daughters favorite story book into a real life wonder-bunny-land. She also posted many of the recipes from the party. Recipes like cupcakes made to look like cabbage and adorable little white cottontail cupcakes. She made stations for the kiddos. It all looked delightful. Go check it out!

Let's Face It....

...my life is pretty boring lately. I need to start thinking of good blog posts and things to write about because I'm so bored I've lost all motivation to do anything.

I think of all these awesome things to do while I'm at work and then I get home and my lazy ass sits on the couch and watches trashy tv. I have been reading, though. Actually....I'll talk about that...

Just got done a book called Tempting Fate by Jane Green. It was pretty awesome. Read it in like a week...which might not seem like a lot to you but, it's totally quick for me. I only read before bed and this one was good enough that I wanted to read it on all my down time, too. Well, after my trashy tv, that is...

Here's the synopsis from Goodreads:

"When Gabby first met Elliott she knew he was the man for her. In twenty years of marriage she has never doubted her love for him - even when he refused to give her the one thing she still wants most of all. But now their two daughters are growing up Gabby feels that time and her youth are slipping away. For the first time in her life she is restless. And then she meets Matt . . .

Intoxicated by the way this young, handsome and successful man makes her feel, Gabby is momentarily blind to what she stands to lose on this dangerous path. And in one reckless moment she destroys all that she holds dear.

Consumed by regret, Gabby does everything she can to repair the home she has broken. But are some betrayals too great to forgive?"

It's got some trashyish parts, some drama, you'll love the main chick and hate her at the same time. You'll feel sympathy for her and anger towards her. All of the things I love in a story. I hate real life drama so I enjoy hearing about others or reading about it in a book. lol. As long as it's not in my life, I'm good.

I totally recommend it and it was something a little different then what I've been reading from book club.

Any good books you've been reading lately??

Hi everyone! This is Chelsee this week. How was your 4th of July? I hope you all relaxed a bit and spent some time with your family! About that... onto the winner!

I admit I am a makeup lover and for the life of me I always buy organization stuff but can never have enough of it. I mean if you don't understand just how much makeup I have just look at my Instagram. Yes I am a makeup artists so I have a small reason behind my makeup obsession. Needless to say this post was one that I was so glad to see last week. If you are someone that needs to find makeup organization then you understand how expensive and irritating it can be. When I came across Jaelan's blog post I knew I had a winner winner chicken dinner. I mean who knew that makeup organization was so lose by! I personally love watching and reading vlogs/post about makeup organization, due to it giving me tons of ideas.

Jaelan posted a very detailed post depicting before and after her makeup organization and all I can say is "WOW." This post just shows what amazing transformation can come from a bit of organization. What specifically caught my eye was that she got a steal on these organization pieces considering I buy from Muji, which I am sort of ashamed to admit due to how expensive an order can get. I felt that since I am someone that deals with this issue that others may be facing the same situation and in need of assistance. So I thought this was the perfect post to share with all of my makeup loving friends! I hope you head over and check it out and find some new makeup organization ideas that will work for you!

Jaelan is a relatively new blogger who blogs about life and I highly suggest that you all Go check her out. She is quick at responding to her followers comments and truly helpful, which I truly admire. I just love her posts and can't wait to read future post from her.
