Most Popular Posts #3 - Doin' The Do On Your Wedding Night

Haha. Oh by far my favorite Most Popular Post of all time. Enjoy!!

________________________________________________________________________

First off, if you don't like this topic, don't read this. It's my blog. I write what I wanna!!

Oh!!! And don't forget to come link up for Thirsty Thursday tomorrow!! All you have to do is link up one of your posts about alcohol!!!

Okay so, lets be honest...whenever someone gets married you always wonder if they're actually going to "do the do" on their wedding night. Come on...fess up. We all wonder.

Here's something you might not know about me. I'm really interested in sex. No, I'm not some crazy fiend, it's just interesting to me. And truthfully, whenever my friends come over, our conversations always turn to sex. So, I can't be the only one.

Honestly, I don't think it's something you have to feel embarrassed to talk about. I mean yeah, sometimes it's awkward to picture OPP (look it up, you down with it??) and sometimes you hear things you don't need to hear, but it's still interesting.

Think of it this way, your friend tried out a recipe that you've been eyeing up for weeks. And..before trying out the recipe for yourself you need to get the lowdown. For example: How complicated is this recipe exactly? Does it involve a lot of fancy utensils that you might not have lying around your house? Will I get messy? (OK sorry I had to.) Is ther anything I should be aware of when actually preparing this recipe? And most importantly...Is it worth it?? All legit questions, right?!?

So...why is it inappropriate for me to ask the same questions about sex? I mean I want to know what I'm getting myself into before I'm too far gone.

But...maybe that's just my own opinion..........

Back to the main question...Did you "get down with the get down" on your wedding night??

My answer is probably about the same as 70% of the population.

No.

You see, on the night of my wedding my husband felt the need to take a shot with every single person he's ever spoken to for at least 30 seconds in his life. However, being the good wife that I was, I was doing the mingling with our guests and had no idea this was happening. I mean, I could tell he was a little bit tipsy and going a little bit too far, but I had no idea what I was in store for.

After most of the guests left, Mike and I were getting ready to go to a local bar down the street. When, all the sudden, I looked over and noticed that his eyes were rolling in the back of his head and he was about to pass out on the couch. When I asked how much he drank he said "just like 4 shots".

Now, between the two of us we did manage to kill a half gallon of vodka and another of sweet tea vodka. But, that's just a typical special occasion Saturday for us. lol. I just figured it was one of those nights where it hits you all of once and they you pass out and be done with it.

Boy was I in for a treat...

After I carried Mike up to the room (4 flights of stairs by the way :)) I realized that he truly was incredibly intoxicated. Thank God my brother and his fiance were there to help me. Unfortunately, for them, they were also in for a treat. The only words that Mike made out clearly that evening were "I want Scott and Leigh to undress me....and very, very slowly." *eye roll*

Between the three of us we did manage to get him undressed and put him in bed. Me still in my wedding dress. When I thought he was asleep I started to head up the stairs to get the rest of my clothes. And that's when it happened.

I had literally seen Mike get sick about 3 times in our relationship. But tonight changed it all. He would not stop. I somehow got him to the toilet and that is where I slept for the remainder of the evening. Sitting up, on a tile floor, with Mike in between my legs head pushed into the toilet... aallllllllll niiiiigggghhhtttt looooooooooong. Oh, and in my strapless and thong because all my clothes were upstairs.

So...no. Needless to say I did not do the horizontal mambo on our wedding night. And, thanks to an incredibly long hangover and a drive to Florida, it wasn't until 3 days later that we finally got to consummate our marriage.

A few weeks later when we got our pictures back I had the proof...

So..did you "do the do" on your wedding night?!?!

My photographer was AMAZEBALLS!! (DC, MD, VA)

First off, don't forget about Thirsty Thursday tomorrow!! I would love to get some new linkers so spread the word!! And I promise I'll be better about recognizing all of you, too!! I've been such a slacker!! Anyone interested in cohosting email me at hopelessly_ever_after@yahoo.com.

OK, now back to Wedding Wednesday!! I know, I know...I'm already married, but I just have to recognize the photographers from my wedding.

I knew the one thing I was willing to really spend money on was my photographer. No, not my dress. That's something I knew I would only wear once. But, my photographer would be the person to capture those memories for the rest of our lives.

Mike and I did a lot of research and we finally ended up picking Paired Images. Jess and Jess that's right two Jess's :) were AWESOME!! They are both so easy going and amazing and their photos are incredible! And truthfully, they were super affordable!! We wanted to get a sense of their style with us so, as usual, we had our engagement shoot with them.

It was the coldest day of the whole winter. I have no idea how the four of us made it through for almost two hours. There was snow and ice everywhere!!

Not to mention we were right on the water. We had our pics done in Annapolis, right downtown.

But they were both troopers and we treaded through the snow to get some amazing shots!!

You can see their blog post about us and more awesome shots here!!

So naturally, we kept them on for our wedding. And they certainly did not dissappoint!!

And this time, it certainly was not cold. In fact...it might have been one of the hottest days of the summer. :)

It's so important to have someone who you can count on to capture those memories.

Of course you remember parts of your wedding day...but visual reminders are always helpful.

So if anyone in the DCish area is in need of a photographer...please check out Jess and Jess. They are AMAZING!!!

And if you haven't had enough of us yet...visit their blog page about our wedding!!

Or go see them on Facebook!!

Happy Anniversary!!

So today marks ONE YEAR that Mike and I have been married. I am truly blessed that he came into my life and I couldn't have asked for someone who loved me more.

For those who don't know, Mike chased me for an entire year. He tried everything he could to get me to date him, and I was just too stubborn. I was moving away in a few months and had already tried that whole long distance thing. Needless to say...it just didn't work out.

When I moved to Virginia I would come home every other weekend to hang out with him. He was truly my best friend and we could tell each other anything. I loved him from the start but wasn't going to let myself be stuck in another long distance situation. Every second I spent with him was fun. We would talk for hours in the car and he would even drive out to the cemetery with me long after the bars closed just to "hang out" with dad. Mike never got the chance to meet him, but he knew how important it was to me.

There were many times Mike professed his love to me and I would just blow him off. Every time it happened he would call our friendship quits because he couldn't deal with just being "friends" with someone he cared so much about. It would only take a few hours for him to realize it just wasn't that easy. Our friendship was way too strong for him to just write me off. And on we would go for another few weeks talking all day every day, the first thing I thought about when I woke up, and the last before I fell asleep.

And then, with four little words, our lives changed. It was my weekend to go home. I called Mike as usual to let him know what time I was getting on the road the next day. Letting him know what time I would be home so we could go out. He told me he might not be able to hang out that night...
 "I have a date."
I remember it like it was yesterday. I was in Target looking at dish towels. In that second I felt my heart break. I think I could literally feel pieces shatter and slice my insides. It hurts me just thinking about it. I put everything down and walked out of Target. All the while asking him questions about who it was and what they were going to do. Acting like it was nothing. Like there wasn't a huge bubble in my throat ready to explode. And then finally I told him...
"Please don't go with her. Go with me."

The next night we had our first official date. We had hung out just the two of us plenty of times before but this time we knew it was different. I think we both knew that we would be together forever. Everything between us was just so comfortable. It felt like he was made for me and me for him. Soulmates.

Two weeks later, Mike came to Virginia and moved me home. I can honestly say I love him more now than I ever thought it was possible to love. The best decision I have ever made in life was telling him not to go on that date. I may have never known what it felt like to love this much.

LOVE YOU GOOBER!!
