Friday Favorites!!

What a great short week this week!! Only 2 and a half more to go!!

favorite cocktail.
Please tell me how AMAZEBALLS this Baby Ruth Martini looks from Our Good Life. I mean, would you pass this up if it was offered to you?? Well...truth...I wouldn't pass up any liquor if it was offered to me, but this I would gladly take and more! How phenomenal. I have been wanting to try out a recipe for a chocolate type martini and this one just might be my choice!! And make sure you stop by Thursty Thursday from yesterday because there are a ton of awesome summery recipes on there.

favorite recipe.
I found this Caprese Dip on one of the many linkups I drop my dranks by yesterday. Who doesn't love a nice caprese salad on a summer day? And this way you can make it into dip form!! I love it! I can't wait to try this out. My runner up was this Bruschetta Pasta Salad which I think might be made at our next cookout. Be sure to check it out because it's phenomenal!

favorite copycat.
OK, ok. I cheated a little. I guess this is a recipe, too. But...it couldn't be left out. These Copycat Wendy's Frostys need to be in my mouth right now. I love love love a Wendy's Frosty and if I can make them at home.......and maybe add liquor??......then I'm content in life. One quick question though.....are you a fry dipper or no??

favorite printable.
Check out this Summer Fun Bucket List from Living la vida Holoka. How cute is this? I love how you could print it out and put it in a frame, then use a white out marker to check off the things that you did. It would be awesome to do with your kids and when you check off what you did they could read back what you still have to do!! How awesome!

favorite funny video.
I saw this on Facebook last night and had to share it. I literally was sitting alone in my living room busting ass about this. No idea why I thought it was that hilarious, but holy shit.

We need this in ALL elevators!

#ThurstyThursday: Strawberry Spritz

Want something sweet and refreshing for your weekend drink? This is it! Happy Thursty Thursday!!

Today is Career Day and I can't wait to get home and drink one of these. The one I had last night......one....pretty much took me to level one on my scale from 1-4. And...since I stopped after that one, I was in bed by about 8:30. These weeks are exhausting!

I also realized I suck donkey balls at taking pictures of my cocktails. I need a cocktail photography tutorial. Any good posts I can read? I need some help. Keep in mind I'm working with my cell phone here. It's about all I have in order to take "nice" pictures.

So...because I'm a slacker, and also because I'm beat to hell...without further ado...

Strawberry Spritz
2 shots vodka
1 shot coconut rum
2 tbsp. pureed strawberries
Simply Orange with pineapple juice
Sprite

Slice and sugar some strawberries and let sit in the fridge for a few days. Blend strawberries together until pureed. You might need to mix some of the juice with it in order to get them to blend well. Pour shots, strawberry puree, and juice over ice. Stir. Add Sprite. Enjoy! Cheers!!

Hashtag Humpday

Hey look at me, I'm baacck! Sorry Monday's are my slacker days and since Tuesday was kind of like a Monday, Tuesday was my slacker day, too. #sorrynotsorry

This weekend was a blast. I was super nervous I would have nothing to do because Mike was working....of course. But, I took matters into my own hands and I was so busy I actually had to choose between things. Look at me!! I'm not sitting around moping any more. I'm doin shit! I pretty much laid out the entire weekend. Sunday I went to a wine and craft beer tasting and was wrecked by about 2. Luckily, we had a cookout that night at our neighbors so we just carried on with the drunkenness. Sad part is we were all beat from the sun and drinks so most of us headed to bed about 10. #slackers #ineedbeautysleep #imtoooldforthis

This is like the best week ever. We were off on Monday so it makes it a 4 day week, plus Career Day is tomorrow so really...I only have to deal with these shizzles for 3 days. I can handle that. Next week, however, I'm not making any guarantees. #whycanttheyallbelikethis #ifonlywecoulddrink

Confession: I'm lazy as 'ish in the summertime. All I want to do is lay out and drink and anything that hinders that sometimes makes me a bitch. You know how everyone always says teachers teach for 3 reasons, June, July, and August. Nosir. I get 2 weeks off. And those 2 weeks are right before school starts again so all I so is anticipate the first day. I know, I know, I can't complain. But still...I want to take advantage of the summers like everyone else. Actually this year was going to be the year I did that, but I was offered this job and I couldn't turn it down. So...it's my own fault. But......it sure would be nice. #teacherslivesmatter #prayforavacay #anotherreasontodrinkatschool

Friday Favorites!!

Another week down...3 more to go!! Plus I have a 3 day weekend so I'm super stoked about that!

Happy Friday!!

favorite cocktail.
Yesterday, The Kitchen is my Playground linked up three delicious looking cocktails but this one by far took the cake. It's a Champagne Cobbler Cocktail and only has 5 ingredients (and two are the fruits you see in the picture). I can not wait to try this one my girl's night. I'm throwing a "slumber party" in July and I think this will be my sexy drink of choice to serve to my ladies. Of course, I plan on having all appetizers and drinks that "fit the theme" of the night. haha.

favorite recipe.
I'm not sure if you've noticed or not but there are a TON of linkups throughout the week that are food/drink related that I link up my Thursty Thursday posts with. My favorite is always Tuesday's Recipe Swap with Katie and Emily. They've changed it now to every other week, but my girl Emily still posts recipes every Tuesday and I'm so happy she does. This week she posted this Spicy Jalapeño Coleslaw and I can't wait to put this in my mouth. And...she paired it with my 4-ingredient Crockpot BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwiches, so of course I'm totally in love. Two of my favorite things. BBQ Pulled Pork and Jalapeños.

favorite freebie.
I also found this free printable in one of the linkups I follow. I love free stuff....have I said that before? And plus, I plan on attaching it to a pretty clipboard and hanging it in my classroom, so free stuff for my classroom is even better. And....what a great quote. Although it does make me feel a little bit like a slacker at the moment. haha.

favorite movie.
Ok, so this is a trailer for the new Mad Max film. Mike and I went to go see it this weekend and it is a definite MUST SEE!! If you have the opportunity, be sure to watch it in 3D, too. It was probably some of the best 3D I have seen yet, and it is ACTION PACKED!! Like seriously from the beginning to the end. It's insane! And Tom Hardy isn't too hard on the eyes either.

favorite diy.
This was another post from Pocket of Posies on a linkup that I follow. I think these mugs look so super simple and turn out so pretty!! I know you can get plain white mugs from the Dollar Tree and I'm always looking for ways to spruce up my kitchen set. Might be doing these in the near future!!

#ThurstyThursday: Raspberry Beer Cocktail

Happy Thursday! Are you thursty yet? Because you're about to be with this one!

It's been so absolutely gorgeous over these past few days and this weekend. It rained a little but my plants could totally have used it and now they are blooming beautifully!!

This week I tried out another beer cocktail. I loved the last one and since it's so nice outside I thought I would make something we could keep in a pitcher and just pour. We usually have our goto Arnold Palmeranians stocked up in the fridge but they're getting a little old lately, so this is a great change.

One thing that's really nice about this is how refreshing it is. Beer sometimes bloats me in the summertime but it's so much easier to grab a beer and do yard work then have to keep track of your cocktail and keep mixing. This is a little of the best of both worlds.

And the raspberry. I love how it adds just enough flavor without overpowering the cocktail with a fruity taste. It keeps it light, but blends in nicely with the pink lemonade.

Raspberry Beer Cocktail
1 cup raspberries, frozen or fresh
2/3 container pink lemonade concentrate, or raspberry lemonade concentrate.
1/2 cup vodka
3 Coronas

Add raspberries and muddle just a little. Add pink lemonade, and vodka to pitcher. Mix well. Pour Coronas into mixture. Enjoy!! Cheers!

Hashtap Humpday

I'm over it. School that is. I think I have some senioritis, or "teacheritis" or something....but to be honest I'm just trying to make it until June 18th. Then my good old summer program starts on June 19th and I'm at it again. haha. I honestly think it's all about the drive. I'm over the drive. Especially on these beautiful days and it never fails that I get caught behind some grandma or grandpa going 4 mph. #movebitchgetouttheway #isitsummeryet #ineedadrink

My husband and I love Game of Thrones, but.......he read all the books. So? What's the problem? This season doesn't follow the books. Still don't get it? Let me clarify. Mike thinks this season is supposed to go the way it went in the books. After all, it is a series based off of books, but, since it's not...every mother effin' episode I have to listen to him talk about how it's different from the books. The past few seasons, while it went with the books, I had to listen to him talk about how much better the books were.....oh my. #justletmewatchitalone #winterisabitch #burnthebooks #ineedadrink

Anyone been watching Kandi's Ski Trip? I think there has only been one episode, but if I had aunts and a momma like Kandi and I had that much money I was handing out to them you better be damn sure that I would totally cut them off. They are so ungrateful!! I mean you're on a trip for free. I could give a shit less if I was given a trip to hell for a week...I'd go! Just for the experience. WTF is up with people who are so "entitled" that they feel the need to complain about something so graciously offered to them for free??? If you didn't want to be cold, don't go. You didn't have to accept the offer!! #rantdone #showmethemoney #ungratefulbetches

Flashing My Titles!!

I've read a ton of good books lately and I just thought I would take the time to share with you. I'm always looking for new titles and authors and love to read other bloggers feedback so I figured I would give some of my own.

Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult
"For more than a decade, Jenna Metcalf has never stopped thinking about her mother, Alice, who mysteriously disappeared in the wake of a tragic accident. Refusing to believe she was abandoned, Jenna searches for her mother regularly online and pores over the pages of Alice’s old journals. A scientist who studied grief among elephants, Alice wrote mostly of her research among the animals she loved, yet Jenna hopes the entries will provide a clue to her mother’s whereabouts.

Desperate to find the truth, Jenna enlists two unlikely allies in her quest: Serenity Jones, a psychic who rose to fame finding missing persons, only to later doubt her gifts, and Virgil Stanhope, the jaded private detective who’d originally investigated Alice’s case along with the strange, possibly linked death of one of her colleagues. As the three work together to uncover what happened to Alice, they realize that in asking hard questions, they’ll have to face even harder answers.

As Jenna’s memories dovetail with the events in her mother’s journals, the story races to a mesmerizing finish. A deeply moving, gripping, and intelligent page-turner, Leaving Time is Jodi Picoult at the height of her powers." {Amazon.com}

I loved this book. I'm a little partial for Jodi Picoult but this is by far one of my favorites from her. As usual she comes from behind and smacks you straight in the face with her ending. Lately, I've been pretty good at figuring out at least somewhat what might happen at the ends of her novels. But this one definitely blindsided me. You have to check it out.

The Matchmaker by Elin Hilderbrand
"48-year-old Nantucketer Dabney Kimball Beech has always had a gift for matchmaking. Some call her ability mystical, while others - like her husband, celebrated economist John Boxmiller Beech, and her daughter, Agnes, who is clearly engaged to the wrong man - call it meddlesome, but there's no arguing with her results: With 42 happy couples to her credit and all of them still together, Dabney has never been wrong about romance.

Never, that is, except in the case of herself and Clendenin Hughes, the green-eyed boy who took her heart with him long ago when he left the island to pursue his dream of becoming a journalist. Now, after spending 27 years on the other side of the world, Clen is back on Nantucket, and Dabney has never felt so confused, or so alive.

But when tragedy threatens her own second chance, Dabney must face the choices she's made and share painful secrets with her family. Determined to make use of her gift before it's too late, she sets out to find perfect matches for those she loves most. The Matchmaker is a heartbreaking story about losing and finding love, even as you're running out of time." {Amazon.com}
This book was super cute. It's a little predictable, but it was a super easy and quick read. If you're looking for a beach read this would be a good one. I will warn you, however, it gets a little sad. So be prepared.

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty
"Big Little Lies follows three women, each at a crossroads:
Madeline is a force to be reckoned with. She’s funny and biting, passionate, she remembers everything and forgives no one. Her ex-husband and his yogi new wife have moved into her beloved beachside community, and their daughter is in the same kindergarten class as Madeline’s youngest (how is this possible?). And to top it all off, Madeline’s teenage daughter seems to be choosing Madeline’s ex-husband over her. (How. Is. This. Possible?).

Celeste is the kind of beautiful woman who makes the world stop and stare. While she may seem a bit flustered at times, who wouldn’t be, with those rambunctious twin boys? Now that the boys are starting school, Celeste and her husband look set to become the king and queen of the school parent body. But royalty often comes at a price, and Celeste is grappling with how much more she is willing to pay.

New to town, single mom Jane is so young that another mother mistakes her for the nanny. Jane is sad beyond her years and harbors secret doubts about her son. But why? While Madeline and Celeste soon take Jane under their wing, none of them realizes how the arrival of Jane and her inscrutable little boy will affect them all.

Big Little Lies is a brilliant take on ex-husbands and second wives, mothers and daughters, schoolyard scandal, and the dangerous little lies we tell ourselves just to survive." {Amazon.com}
I read this a while ago but rereading this synopsis brought it all back. It's written a little different, but the whole concept is pretty cool. At the end of each chapter there are a few quotes from random people in the story. It does a great job to help you build a case for what the "big mystery" is. And I bet you won't guess it! Another great beach read.

All Fall Down by Jennifer Weiner
"Allison Weiss got her happy endinga handsome husband, an adorable daughter, a job she loves, and the big house in the suburbs. But while waiting in the pediatrician’s office, she opens a magazine to a quiz about addiction and starts to wonder…Is a Percocet at the end of the day really different from a glass of wine? Is it such a bad thing to pop a Vicodin after a brutal Jump & Pump class…or if your husband ignores you? She tells herself that the pills help her make it through her days…but what if her increasing drug use, a habit that’s becoming expensive and hard to hide, is turning into her biggest problem of all?
Hailed as “a witty, realistic criticism on the modern age” (Boston Herald), this remarkable story of a woman’s fall into addiction and struggle to find her way back up again is Jennifer Weiner’s most masterful, moving, and celebrated work yet." {Amazon.com}
This book was awesome! It was so cool to get in the mind of an addict. And, I know that sounds insane, but this book really helped me realize how easy it is to become addicted to something so easy to get as pain pills. It also teaches you that, it doesn't matter if you have it all or nothing, you can still get caught up in your moments.

Tempting Fate by Jane Green
"Gabby and Elliott have been happily married for eighteen years. They have two teenaged daughters. They have built a life together. Forty-three year old Gabby is the last person to have an affair. She can't relate to the way her friends desperately try to cling to the beauty and allure of their younger years…And yet she too knows her youth is quickly slipping away. She could never imagine how good it would feel to have a handsome younger man show interest in her--until the night it happens. Matt makes Gabby feel sparkling, fascinating, alive--something she hasn't felt in years. What begins as a long-distance friendship soon develops into an emotional affair as Gabby discovers her limits and boundaries are not where she expects them to be. Intoxicated, she has no choice but to step ever deeper into the allure of attraction and attention, never foreseeing the life-changing consequences that lie ahead. If she makes one wrong move she could lose everything--and find out what really matters most."

There were parts of this book that really pissed me off...clearly...it's about an affair. But, at the same time it was so super interesting to get in the mind of how it all went down. Kind of like All Fall Down and the mind of an addict. Another really easy and quick read. I bet you won't put it down.

Friday Favorites!!

First off.....did you see how many awesome cocktail recipes we had for Thursty Thursday yesterday?!?! I'm pretty sure it was the best linkup week yet! And enough margarita recipes to last me the entire summer!! I am super pumped and hope you will all join me again in future weeks!!

HAPPY FRIDAY!! I'm super pumped it's Friday. Mike has off this weekend and it's gorgeous out and...the best part....we have absolutely nothing planned!! Which means the world is at our fingertips. Now....let's just hope we don't spend the whole thing on the couch inside. haha.

favorite cocktail{s}.
It was literally almost impossible to choose just one cocktail this week from all the ones linked up yesterday. So, I cheated and chose two. I think that's pretty good for little ole indecisive me. I can't make a decision on anything to save my life so choosing only 2 out of the NINETEEN we had was pretty awesome.

The first is a Strawberry Honey & Jalapeño Margarita from Lexi Bites. Yup. You read that correctly. All of my favorites rolled into one. There is no way I can go all summer without having one of these. And...there are only 6 ingredients!! 3 of which are pretty obvious because they're listed in the name. haha. I can not wait to get my hands on these!!

The second was one I'm super excited about. One of my favorite easy drinks is a Captain and Ginger, but Ali at Home & Plate took it one step further. She linked up a Captain and Blackberry Ginger Ale! I've seen these flavored ginger ales around but never thought to incorporate it into this cocktail. I might be trying out a few different types of these in the near future. Stay tuned in a few weeks for Thursty Thursday!!

favorite recipe.
Tell me this doesn't just sound amazing....Bacon and Cheese Cornbread Salad. Read it again....bacon...and cheese....cornbread....salad. I have drool coming out of the side of my mouth as we speak. I can only imagine how delicious this is. And despite how many ingredients it looks like it has, it's really nothing different then making a pasta salad or something like it. It's easy cheap ingredients. I love it!!

favorite freebie.
I found this free printable a few weeks back from Ash and Crafts and thought it was gorgeous. I just wish I knew how to actually print it where the gold foil looks like gold foil. Has anyone printed this kind of thing before? And how do you do it?? {haha so funny. Immediately after I wrote this I found this tutorial on one way you can do it.}

favorite diy.
I love these diy glitter candles you can do to fit any room in your house. You can use any color of wax you would like to make it look perfect!! And think of the endless possibilities for bridal showers or weddings? Perfect for any occasion.

favorite song.
I'm in love with this song. I know it's old now and everyone is probably over it. But every time I hear it it gives me chills. So many of my favorite people in life have passed on and this song really speaks to me. It's not over, yet.

#ThurstyThursday: Peach Martini

Happy Thursty Thursday!!

I'm trying out my first martini today!! I'm super excited!! I think it's about time I branched out a little bit and got more creative. haha. It's kind of crazy to think I've never posted a martini before, but....now I popped my martini cherry!!

I even went out and bought martini glasses for this! Don't get too excited, I just purchased them at the local Dollar Tree. Martini taste on a PBR budget.

I found this recipe on Pinterest and it was attached to a delicious looking picture, however, after further investigation I realized there is no way that picture could be this particular martini. So...I can't give credit to anyone for this recipe. If you would like to claim it, please do. Otherwise, it's mine. :)

These past few weeks have flown by and I feel like it's really coming to the end of the school year. I love this feeling but at the same time it gets me a little anxious. I hate how fast years seem to be going by. At the end of this summer I will be 31 and, although I don't feel like that is getting old at all, I feel like each year passes so much faster than the one before it.

So, I guess I'll spend my years doing what I love best. DRANKS!!

Peach Martini
3 oz. Parrot Bay Coconut Rum
3 oz. Peach Vodka
3 oz. Ginger Ale
splash of grenadine

Splash grenadine in the bottom of the glass. Top with 1.5 oz ginger ale. In a shaker, combine Parrot Bay and peach vodka. Shake well. Add to martini glass. Top with remaining 1.5 oz of ginger ale. Enjoy! Cheers!

Sip that and tell me you don't get warm fuzzies inside!!

Review: Happy, Calm, and Focused

I was contacted by a seller of this supplement to do an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Happy, Calm, and Focused. Have you heard of it? It's a brain supplement fueled by F&Q amino acids and over 15 pure and effective neuro-nutrients. This product is hypoallergenic and contains no preservatives, no chemicals, no coatings, no calories, no sweeteners, no enhancers, no yeast, no fragrance, no dairy, no gluten, no nuts, and no wheat.

It's purpose is to make you feel the way you are "supposed" to feel, although most of us don't for whatever reason. It helps you enhance focus, increase concentration, sustain feeling happy, feel internally calm, promote healthy sleep cycles, increase attention, improve alertness & memory, curb anxious eating, lose weight, strengthen neural pathways, increase learning abilities, be energized & strong, and support hormone balance.*

The advantage HCF has over other brain supplements is that typical brain supplements rely on high dose '50 ingredients-in-1' glorified multi-vitamins or just herbs to artificially give your brain a lift, while HCF supports feeding your brain's own neurotransmitters with what it is 'suppose to have' - F&Q amino acids. These two powerful key amino acids are found in whole-food proteins like fish, milk, cheese and turkey. F&Q works by supporting the increase of "feel good" neurotransmitter levels responsible for helping you feel happy, calm and focused every single day.

Phenylalanine (F) is an amino acid of tremendous nutritional importance and a known nutritional precursor to the neurotransmitters dopamine, norepinephrine (noradrenaline), epinephrine (adrenaline) and involved in the release of PEA, phenylethylamine which can sensitize endorphin receptors to endorphins. These neurotransmitters strongly support warm feelings of love, pleasure, happiness, alertness, energy, motivation, memory, attention, internal calmness, and sleep to name just a few.*

L-Glutamine (Q) is an amino acid and a major precursor for the neurotransmitter GABA, or gamma amino butyric acid. This crucial amino acid helps the mind relax and "tone down" unwanted "mind chatter" which can sharpen a person's ability to focus and concentrate with more clarity.*

Associated Neuro-Nutrients are what make HCF so highly effective. These absolute, and precise levels of synergistic vitamins, minerals and other nutrients support the F&Q "key" amino-acids to pass through your BBB and finally nutritionally feed your brain.*

So the big question....did it work?

Well....to be honest, I didn't see a huge change. At least not in the happy and calm categories. I can say that I felt more focused, however. Maybe not to the extent that my ADHD medicines used to give me, but in the sense that I got more done. {don't take last week's blog posts into consideration. haha.} When I did get a chance to sit at work, I used that time to focus on things I needed to get accomplished rather than refreshing my Pinterest feed and reading blog posts. So I think that's a huge plus. And...it didn't give me the side effects that ADHD meds do, like feeling anxious and not being able to sleep.

I will say, however, that I took the minimum that they requested. I kind of wanted to see what that would do so I could give an honest review of what they suggest. Their recommended dosage is taking 3 capsules a day. They say you can take up to 6 if 3 doesn't seem to be doing the trick. I'm supposed to receive another bottle after this review, so with that bottle I plan on starting with 4 capsules and increasing as I see fit. Then, I plan on doing another quick review so I can give you my updated opinion.

The only problem with the number of capsules you take a day is that the cost is pretty expensive. Each $40 bottle comes with 90 pills, so if I'm the kind of person who needs 6 capsules a day that $40 bottle will only last me half of the month. And when I think about that, I think it's a little outrageous.

If you are a parent, however, who wants to use this for your ADHD child, I think it's worth the extra money. You probably aren't going to be giving them 6 capsules a day, and truthfully, I think it's worth the extra money to be giving them something a lot more natural than the regular prescription ADHD meds. As a teacher, I witness the side effects of prescription meds every day. And not every kid is effected by this, but, as a person who suffers from ADHD myself, I've felt these symptoms and they suck. So taking a natural alternative, one that doesn't make you feel like a different person, is a much better option.

Overall, I guess I feel like you need to make your own opinion about this one. I feel like your individual personalities and possible medical problems could have a big influence on whether or not this product is beneficial for you. #ThurstyThursday Throwback: Princess Peach

As I mentioned yesterday the past few weeks have been a little crazy. And yes, I have the same number of hours in each day as everyone else, but it's been crunch time I guess. I don't have any other excuse.

BUTtttttt...instead of skipping Thursty Thursday I figured I would give you a throwback. One of my prized possessions from the beginning of time...or Thursty Thursday. After all....it is #tbt today, right?

Princess Peach
1 part peach vodka
1 1/2 parts cranberry juice
1 1/2 parts orange juice
a splash of peach sparkling water

Combine the vodka, cranberry, and orange juice in a shaker with some ice. Give her a little shake, shake, shake!! Pour in a glass. Add ice. Top with sparkling water.
Drank that shit up!!
