I need design help...

This is going to be a super short post today because I have so much to do to get ready for this week. But...I do need some help from you guys!!

Yesterday I posted a picture of our living room on Twitter asking for some design help. I took some advice from HGTV and hung my curtains high and wide. Supposedly it makes the room look larger. The only problem is that we have 9ft ceilings so I didn't want to hang them all the way to the ceiling like suggested. I went with abouthalfway. 

I did look around at some pictures on the internet and it seemed like my curtains looked a lot like some other pictures I found, but I just think it might look weird.

What do you think?

    Love the TV hung on the wall - we're hoping to do that to ours soon and then we can get rid of the bulky TV stand. I don't think it looks bad but I see what you mean and I think it's because the curtain rod is closer to the ceiling than to the top of the window, maybe? I've seen this too. We can't even do it in our house because our windows pretty much come right to the ceiling, lol. It doesn't look bad though :)

    I think it looks great! I work at an interior design firm and we live by these rules as well. If you think it looks weird, another idea is to go with lighter colored hardware, because it will blend into the wall a little and you wont see the pole going straight through the middle as much.

    your living room is so cute, stylish and simple! I love it! we have all our tvs hung up on the walls and have yet to hide all the cords lol. :( booooo
