Charlotte, I love you!!

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you know that Mike and I took a very short road trip this weekend. (if you don't follow me, you should!) The easiest way to explain this is that we are cheap. I have been looking for curtains for our house every night for a month now because I just can't wrap my head around the fact that one panel costs $25. Seriously?? We have like 1,000 windows. And I would make my own but it really isn't that much cheaper.

Anywhoo...So in the new house we have a "bonus room" and it has now turned into Mike's project. You may know that we watch a ton of tv and movies. So, the "bonus room" is now our home theater, or at least in the process of becoming a home theater. We're by no means rich, and home theaters are super expensive. So, we're ballin on a budget.

Mike, in his Craigslist searches for home theater seating, decided to check out the area around Charlotte, NC. We love Charlotte. I have to admit we have only been there once a few years ago, but it was love at first sight. Ever since the last time we went we have been trying to get back, so Mike thought it would be a great excuse.

He found these seats at an amazing steal, so Friday morning we headed on the road. After a few roadside adjustments and some energy drinks and Combos we were finally there!!
Our hotel room was freakin' AMAZEBALLS and right in the middle of Center City so we had a great night. We started out a little outside of Charlotte on this street full of bars. It was awesome. Unfortunately, my phone died so I only got one pic of this awesome outside bar. It reminded me a lot of Tap42, the bar we love in Fort Lauderdale.

After a few beers, we headed back to Charlotte and got ourselves lost walking around the city. Don't worry, I know jiu jitsu. Well, at least Mike does. We did, however, lose ourselves so much we found this awesome little alley filled with teeny tiny bars. So, we sat down and stayed a while.

One of the places had a Long Island for $5. So, we ordered. Ummmm, that blitch was still clear when she handed it to us. And I mean I like a strong drank, but, whoa!! We were such pusses, that after we sucked it down a little we went and had her add a little splash of coke. I know, I've failed as al alcoholic.

The best part, though, was that, all the sudden, these 3 bicyclists came in blaring "I got 99 problems but a bitch aint one" on their bikes. So, naturally I started singing. One of the guys looked at me and said, "There's about 100 more of us." And within seconds a hundred bicyclists rode their bikes into this tiny alley and started partying. It was insane!! I just kept looking at Mike and doing the "mind blown" face. I loved it!! And within about 20 minutes, they all rolled out. Turns out they do this bicycle bar hop every Sunday and Tuesday, and a huge one the last Friday of the month. How lucky were we?? Made me want to go get a bike and join!

Eventually we headed out too and got insanely lost on the way back to the hotel. lol. It was hilarious. Mike wanted to keep checking out other streets and finally we realized we were doomed. lol. Did I mention both of our phones were dead so we couldn't even figure it out that way. haha. We did find our way back though, and crawled into bed.

And then, the next morning, we woke up, got the chairs and headed the 8 hours back home.

Now go link up with Sami and tell me what you did this weekend!!

  1. Back in college, I used to down 3 or so Long Islands during happy hour. Completely wasted for $10. Now, I can't even drink one Long Island. It's tragic.

  4. So glad you enjoyed your weekend! There are so many bars here it is just unreal. They hide in every corner, down every street, just like you said. You could almost never go to the same place twice!
