Boom Boom, I wanna go ADPi!!

First off, it's Wednesday!! Here's your weekly reminder to get those posts ready for Thirsty Thursday!! All you have to do is write a quick post about a beet, wine, or cocktail that you like!!

OK so a few weeks back I posted on Twitter wondering if any of my followers were Alpha Delta Pi's. I got nothing...so hopefully there's some of you out there!!

Alpha Delta Pi was founded in 1851 at Wesleyan College in Macon, GA. It was the first sorority. BOOM!

I was a late joiner. When I was 19 my father passed away. Despite me trying to stay, my mom forced me to head back to college for my junior year just three weeks later. I lived with one of my best friends at college and we had our own apartment that year. As soon as I got there I knew it was going to be a hard year without my family. Friends can do a lot but sometimes you just need the support of someone you can hug and cry on. 

A few weeks into that semester my friend started encouraging me to join her sorority. I had attended a party with them the year before but was never really interested in being in a sorority. One night I finally gave in to her because I knew I needed more people in my life to help support me. I went to another party to meet some more of the girls. Although they were lots of fun I just wasn't up for the process of recruitment week. 

My friend was quite disappointed but respected my decision. After all I had just lost my dad. 

Little did I know magic was working it's way into my life. It must have been written into my future because someone knew I needed more people in my life. On Bid Day, I was offered an open bid to be an Alpha Delta Pi.

Sorority life was completely different than what I expected. I had a blast!! I loved getting to know my sisters and meeting new people. It was exactly what I needed in order to get myself back on track. 

Although I have to admit I'm not that close with a lot of my sisters, it's mostly my fault. I feel if I had joined earlier and had more time with them things would be a lot different. I still keep in touch with many of them and we are all comment and like each other's images on Facebook and what not. 

I would love to hear from you if you are ADPi. I get excited to find out people I know have something else in common with me. At my graduation, when I wore the ADPi cords, my aunt heard for the first time that I had joined a sorority. Little did I know, that she was an ADPi, too. 

"Boom Boom, I wanna go ADPi. Boom Boom, and baby that ain't no lie. Boom Boom, I wanna go ADPi don't you?!?!"

P.S. Sorry for the horrible pics. I graduated college like 8 years ago. So....that was back when I didn't have any sense of fashion. Oh wait...I still don't. haha.

Weekend Shenanigans...with Bronycon!!

Bronycon.............ever heard of it? Google it. NOW! I'll wait...

This weekend was my sister-in-law's sister's Bachelorette Party. lol. Confused?? Take a moment....ok. So we went to Baltimore for an Orioles game and then headed to Fell's Point for some dranks!! 

Well, boy were we in for a treat!! Bronycon was in Baltimore for the weekend. What is a "brony" you say??

Yup...so that meant we were sharing the city with a bunch of dudes dressed up like My Little Pony characters. There were unicorns, wings, horse ears, and wigs EVERYWHERE!!

Thank God Unfortunately, I did not get any pictures. It was just too much.

But the rest of the evening was a blast!!!

1. We had to wait an hour in order to get into our hotel room. BUT...they gave us free Natty Boh!!

2. My Shnandal. This is the geriatric sneaker/sandal the doctor gave me instead of the boot. I changed back into the boot after the game. No way, Jose!!

3. Penis straws in the restaurant!!

4. Go O's!! We lost.

5. Our group pic in front of the Bronycon advertisement!!

6. Bride-to-be in her fashionable glasses!!

7. Harpoon UFO Raspberry Wheat at Max's Taphouse in Fell's Point. YUM!!

8. The Ravens Tailgate Bus!! But I was too lazy to go get my picture taken in it. lol.

We had a blast and it was a great girls night!! I love Bachelorette parties where you don't have to dress up the whole time. It was so cool to be relaxed!!

It's Friday!!! An apology and a GIVEAWAY!!

My phone, however, must feel differently...

Yesterday, I sent a message while in a dead-ish zone. So a while later I checked to see if it had gone through. I saw next to it it said "Failure". Then, I noticed the one below it said "Failure", too. And the one below that, and below that, and below that, and....

It went all the way to the beginning of July and possibly even farther. I'm so pissed!!

Thirsty Thursday!! The Liquid Medicating Version

I almost didn't make it this week, but...IT'S THIRSTY THURSDAY!!

This week was our Monday for Happy Hour! We found this awesome Happy Hour at a local restaurant/bar in our town. They always have great drafts and awesome specials on mixed drinks. Everything is 1/2 off and wings are 50 cents!!

I decided to try one of the summer beers they had on tap. I always love summer beers because they are light and delicious. This one was no disappointment.

Victory is a brewing company that's fairly local. They're located in Pennsylvania and the bars near us always have some of their beers on tap. I had seen this one last time but had an Orange Crush instead. I was happy to see they still had it this week.

Summer Love is a light beer. It kind of reminds me of Summer Shandy only not as much of the lemon aftertaste. It's perfect for a hot summer day, and has a refreshing citrusy aroma. Sooo good!! You have to try it!

Life gave me lemons...and I got sour!!

Ok so here's the truth....I'm bitter about my foot. 

For those that don't know...I broke it. How stupid!! And...I don't even have a good story to go along with it. I stepped on the stairs wrong........BORING!! And I totally didn't expect it to be broken so when I went to the doctor I just thought he was going to tell me to stay off it for a little or keep doing what I'm doing. Then...BOOOOOOOOM!!!...broken. So he gave me a boot. And that geriatric looking sneaker/sandal, which clearly I won't wear. lol. 

It's so annoying!! This damn boot!! Mike is embarrassed to be seen with me. haha. Mike......is embarassed. Umm..hello?? What about me?? The person who has to WEAR THE BOOT???

And then my stupid dog thinks that blue pump on the front is a ball and trips me all the time trying to eat it. He's not the smartest dog in the kennel, but he sure is cute....

And...it's really putting a damper on the packing for the house. Really?!?! Walking up and down the stairs 700 times a day is just freakin awesome with a damn boot!! Not to mention when I'm trying to sit on the floor and organize crap. BOO!!

And the cruise?!?! Next week we leave for this cruise. You bet your sweet arse I won't be wearing this thing around the ship. So....let's hope I'm healed up by then.

So I'm taking a page from Chelsee's book and offering a little incentive for my linkers. The guy who owns the liquor store we go to has been suggesting this Sorbet Smirnoff for months. He, of course, knows were vodka fans and said this is some of the best he's ever had. Soooo....we had to try it. And the best part is that this stuff is "lite"!! So it's guilt free!!

I did a little research online to find some mixers to go along with it. Finally, I found something I thought would taste delicious and then...naturally...I changed it!! 

The Black Mamba

INGREDIENTS:

2 parts Smirnoff Raspberry Pomegranate Sorbet Lite

3 parts Ginger Ale

3 Parts Cranberry Blackberry V8 V-Fusion

Mix together juice and vodka in a shaker. Add ginger ale. Enjoy!!

I do suggest, however, that you just stick to regular cranberry juice. The cranberry blackberry was on sale, so we bought that. But...the blackberry was a little more overpowering than I like.
