I'll Be Back

In case you haven't noticed, I've been a horrible blogger lately. Life seriously got hectic this summer and truthfully, I have no excuse other than...the moments I could sit and relax felt too good to give up. So...I'm taking a short hiatus. Probably only a few weeks, so don't forget about me! Once school gets underway you can count on some interesting stories. Until then...Cheers!

#ThurstyThursday: #tbt Raspberry Beer Cocktail

Happy Thursday! Are you thursty yet?

I know, I know. It's another throwback, but it's better than not doing anything at all, right? Sorry guys. But....today is my last student day for the summer so I should be back to normal next week!!! I promise!! Until then.....

It's been so absolutely gorgeous over these past few days and this weekend. It rained a little but my plants could totally have used it and now they are blooming beautifully!!

This week I tried out another beer cocktail. I loved the last one and since it's so nice outside I thought I would make something we could keep in a pitcher and just pour. We usually have our goto Arnold Palmeranians stocked up in the fridge but they're getting a little old lately, so this is a great change.

One thing that's really nice about this is how refreshing it is. Beer sometimes bloats me in the summertime but it's so much easier to grab a beer and do yard work then have to keep track of your cocktail and keep mixing. This is a little of the best of both worlds.

And the raspberry. I love how it adds just enough flavor without overpowering the cocktail with a fruity taste. It keeps it light, but blends in nicely with the pink lemonade.

Raspberry Beer Cocktail
1 cup raspberries, frozen or fresh
2/3 container pink lemonade concentrate, or raspberry lemonade concentrate.
1/2 cup vodka
3 Coronas

Add raspberries and muddle just a little. Add pink lemonade, and vodka to pitcher. Mix well. Pour Coronas into mixture. Enjoy!! Cheers!

#ThurstyThursday: Watermelon Margarita

Happy Thursty Thursday!!

Here we are on Thursday already. I'm sorry this week got away from me again. I haven't been able to do much blogging over this summer but I hope to be better. I know I said that on Monday but I'm sure once my summer program is over and I can get back on track I'll be good.

Until then, you can...almost...always count on my for Thursty Thursday!!

A friend posted a video to my Facebook timeline last week and when I watched it I knew it would be my next Thursty Thursday drink. It looked so delicious and refreshing and with our 90 degree temps lately I couldn't wait to make it and feel it slide down my throat. It didn't disappoint. It was super refreshing and delicious, but not as sweet as I had anticipated. I think next time I would experiment with a little simple syrup rather than just add sugar right to the mixture. Maybe even a little juice of some type or more triple sec.

But either way, if you like watermelon you will love this!

Watermelon Margarita
3.5 cups watermelon, cubed
1/2 cup tequila
3 tbsp. lime juice
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. triple sec
lime for garnish

Cit a slice of lime and run it around the rim of the glass. Then rim the glass in sugar. In a blender, blend watermelon, tequila, lime juice, sugar, and triple sec. Add ice to sugar rimmed glass. Pour over ice. Cheers!!

I've Been Found!!

Sorry for the little hiatus. Summer is always a little crazy and this one is no different. The new summer job is a little stressful but I'm having fun with it and enjoying not having to actually teach this summer. Plus I've been spending some time with the little cuties above and I wouldn't take that time away for anything.

Aaaand...I'm sorry for missing Thursty Thursday last week. Truthfully I completely forgot until Thursday night. By then I figured it was too late. I promise I'll try to be a little better this week.

Cheers!!

#ThurstyThursday: #TBT Bourbon Slush

Happy Thursty Thursday!!

I posted this one a while back, but it's really more of a summer drink so I'm reposting. No complaining. It's for your own good!!

I was sitting just the other day, telling Mike that I wanted to make more of that Bourbon Slush. This is so good and would be the perfect cool down for these hot hot days we've been having. Matter of fact, I'm pretty sure I could sit outside in a kiddie pool with one of these in my hand all day and be totally content.

I have to say I wasn't much of a bourbon drinker until this drink....and now I crave it. So yummy. So refreshing. So slushy!!!!

Bourbon Slush
 Ingredients:
4 cups strong brewed tea
24 oz. lemonade concentrate, thawed
12 oz. orange juice concentrate, thawed
3 cups bourbon

Mix all together in large pitcher or bowl. Freeze for 8 hours. Stir. Freeze for at least another 2 hours. Cheers!!

#ThurstyThursday: The Firecracker

Happy Thursty Thursday!!

This week my Pinterest did the work for me. I was thinking about a drink this week that used watermelon and cucumber and wanted to name is something 4th of July-ish and low and behold....as soon as I opened up Pinterest, this came up! Thank you Pinterest God's!

I've heard so much about cucumber vodka and how refreshing it is. I've seen so many cucumber mojitos and even a cucumber sangria. I knew when I grabbed that cucumber from the produce stand of our Food Lion it was time! Time my friends!!

Then....something miraculous happened. Mike's parents came over for dinner and brought watermelon! OK, so it's not exactly "miraculous"...but it started ringing some bells!! What's more refreshing in the summertime than watermelon? But...watermelon and cucumber? Together? Hmmm. Not so sure about that one.

So, I turned to Pinterest for some ideas...and boy did it deliver!! Now...as usual I changed it around a little. I kind of combined two recipes, this one and this one, but let me tell you how delicious this is It even came with the perfect name!!

The Firecracker
3 1" cubes of watermelon
4 slices of cucumber
juice of 1 lime
1 oz. simple syrup
1 oz orange juice
2 oz vodka

for garnish:
1 slice of cucumber
1 slice of watermelon
1 slice of lime

In a cocktail shaker, muddle watermelon, limes (if you use lime juice add later), and cucumber. Add vodka, simply syrup, orange juice, and lime juice (see above). Pour over ice. Garnish with watermelon, cucumber, and lime. Cheers!!

Let's Be Friends Blog Hop #114

Welcome to the Let's Be Friends Blog Hop!

A blog hop is a set time frame for current or aspiring bloggers to find new blogs and quality content. It is a great way to make new friends and find inspiration! It is also a fabulous way to promote your own blog and posts.

Dear Friends,
What a day to celebrate! This is the 124th week of the Let's Be Friends blog hop! Thanks for joining us on this special day. Chelsee and Tiffany are extremely delighted to see the way this hop has grown and love to see your faces each week!

Join us every Tuesday at 7am (MST). This blog hop focuses on content. LINK UP YOUR FAVORITE POST from last week in this fun content-sharing blog hop! I love the idea of blog hopping, but I love the idea of reading posts and quality content on new blogs I've never been to even more. Instead of simply linking up your blog button, you are now able to link up your favorite post you recently wrote. Have a delicious recipe to share, DIY tutorial, or heartfelt post? Share it with us! All hosts and co-hosts put up some unique and fun content from the past week. Make sure to check them out. P.S.- you may still link up your blog button and blog name, but it is encouraged to link up your favorite post instead. You will get more page views and interest if you do so! Some of the most successful blog hops I have participate in focus on content rather than just exchanging follows. You never know who will become a loyal follower or pin that delicious new recipe you posted!

The BEST part of this blog hop? Each week there will be a WINNER! That's right, each week we will choose one lucky blog to feature from the previous week's hop. This hop receives thousands of page views every week, so your blog will have the chance to be center stage for free. You must follow all the hosts and co-hosts in order to win. Only those who link up a specific post are eligible to be featured! *You must follow all the hosts and co-hosts in order to win.

The last exciting change is that the co-host spots will now be available to all sponsors of The Dwelling Tree or Southern Beauty Guide. If you are interested in co-hosting the blog hop, email Tiffany or Chelsee about sponsorship opportunities and how to co-host the weekly hop!
There are a couple of great giveaways going on right now at Southern Beauty Guide and The Dwelling Tree. Go check them out! :)

Winks and Eyerolls
Hello everyone! This is Tiffany. This week I chose this post because it is so true! I don't know why, but people say the weirdest things to pregnant people. I resonated with so many points of this post. I still remember a lady looking at me when I was at the gym and about 36 weeks and saying, out loud, "Wow, are you gonna have your baby today?"! I was totally embarrassed. This is a great list to read and remember for all your pregnant friends.

I love Sierra and Faith and their blog Winks and Eyerolls. They are really great and have an amazing blog filled with awesome content! Go follow them!

Keep posting awesome content! You make it so fun for us to read all your posts! If you can, please link up a specific post. It makes it easier for us to come and visit!

#ThurstyThursday: Not Your Father's Root Beer Ale

My favorite soda ever is root beer. Well..to be honest, it's Pennsylvania Dutch Birch Beer, but root beer works when I can't find that. So...when my neighbor showed me this Not Your Father's Root Beer Ale, I knew I would love it.

Let me start with this....if you don't like beer, but you like root beer, this is for you. This 'ish is amazing. Like for real amazing. And probably super dangerous because it tastes just like regular old root beer and it's 10% ABV. No lie. I had to ask him if it was actually beer because all I tasted was root beer. DANGER DANGER!! I've even had this one on ice. haha.

Here's the description from their website:
Kovac passed down his family’s beer making tradition by working tirelessly with his son to craft the first version of “Not Your Father’s Root Beer.” At 10% ABV, the silky, smooth and satisfying finish is unmatched in flavor. It appeals to craft beer aficionados as well as those who don’t typically drink beer but crave something unique.

The award-winning “Not Your Father’s Root Beer” achieved a 95 rating from Beer Advocate and is a very popular choice at several Chicagoland bars. Small Town’s personally delivered “Not Your Father’s Root Beer” kegs consistently sell out at taverns across the Chicago area.

As Small Town Brewery continues to roll out new craft beers, Kovac is intent on providing the beer loving public with unique flavors that continue his family’s beer-making tradition. Available on draft and in bottles.
I can only imagine how delicious this would be in a beer cocktail. I'm thinking take this and add a little spiced rum?? Kind of like a captain and root beer?? Can you even fathom how delicious that would be?? And so super dangerous. But who cares......yummmmmmmmmm.

So tell me, what do you think?? Would you drink this? Any suggestions for beer cocktails with it?

Hashtag Humpday!

Well we're on the third day of my first week of this summer program shenanigans. So far things are going smoothly. I'm learning so much and it's so interesting seeing things from another point of view. So far so good, pray for me. #keepupthehappythoughts #letshopeitstaysthisway

I have a feeling I'm not going to get the opportunity to blog that often this summer. Don't leave me!! I'll be back as soon as school starts back up. Who knows, maybe I'll get more time then I thought I would but a lot of my blogging happened before school started the past few months, and now that I'm trying to get to the gym in the mornings I won't have too much time. Maybe I can plan my Sundays for blogging days, but I'm hoping to actually get to spend some more time with my husband this summer so...we'll see. #staywithme #illbeback #terminatorquotes

That's all for now. I know I don't have much but truthfully I'm super hectic right now. I barely even have enough time to pee throughout my day. haha. #gottagogottagogottagorightnow #peepeedance

Cute Summer Shorts under $25

I'm always looking for a bargain. Especially when my weight is all over the place. Nothing sucks more than splurging on a new pair of cute shorts and then not being able to wear them the next year. So...I took some time to find some more affordable options that don't hurt the bank too much if you gain a little winter weight.

All of these shorts are under $25 and so super cute! Can't wait to get that summer program check so I can start making my own purchases. haha.

Any other great suggestions for cute cheap shorts??

#ThurstyThursday: Spiked Peach Tea

Happy Thursty Thursday!!

It's sweet sweet summertime!!! Our last day with kids was Tuesday and today is the last day of school...period. We have to spend all day at some training today...which doesn't make much sense to me, but...I'll do it, mainly because I have to. haha.

Most of you know that Mike and my goto drink for the summer is the Arnold Palmeranian. We keep a half gallon in the fridge at all times and always take some to the beach when we go. It's a great way to keep the po-leese from knowing your getting your drank on in areas where that's prohibited.

A few weeks ago I saw a link for Copycat Olive Garden Peach Tea posted on a few of the linkups I connect to. And....my brain started getting to work. I do love myself a nice cup of that sweet peachy tea from Olive Garden. So....wonder if I added some of our favorite spiked sweet tea flair to it?? And then, my friends.....we have liftoff!!

Spiked Olive Garden Peach Tea (by the batch)
approx. 1.5 quarts fresh-brewed Unsweetened Tea
1 large tbsp. Sweet N Low
1/2 quart Sweet Tea Vodka
11oz. Peach Nectar
1 ripe peach, peeled

Brew unsweetened tea and mix in Sweet N Low. Stir until dissolved. In a 2 quart container, add Sweet Tea vodka and peach nectar. Fill the rest with the tea mixture. In a glass, muddle a few slices of peaches. Pour tea over ice and enjoy! Cheers!!
