#ThurstyThursday: Not Your Father's Root Beer Ale

My favorite soda ever is root beer. Well..to be honest, it's Pennsylvania Dutch Birch Beer, but root beer works when I can't find that. So...when my neighbor showed me this Not Your Father's Root Beer Ale, I knew I would love it.

Let me start with this....if you don't like beer, but you like root beer, this is for you. This 'ish is amazing. Like for real amazing. And probably super dangerous because it tastes just like regular old root beer and it's 10% ABV. No lie. I had to ask him if it was actually beer because all I tasted was root beer. DANGER DANGER!! I've even had this one on ice. haha.

Here's the description from their website:
Kovac passed down his family’s beer making tradition by working tirelessly with his son to craft the first version of “Not Your Father’s Root Beer.” At 10% ABV, the silky, smooth and satisfying finish is unmatched in flavor. It appeals to craft beer aficionados as well as those who don’t typically drink beer but crave something unique.

The award-winning “Not Your Father’s Root Beer” achieved a 95 rating from Beer Advocate and is a very popular choice at several Chicagoland bars. Small Town’s personally delivered “Not Your Father’s Root Beer” kegs consistently sell out at taverns across the Chicago area.

As Small Town Brewery continues to roll out new craft beers, Kovac is intent on providing the beer loving public with unique flavors that continue his family’s beer-making tradition. Available on draft and in bottles.
I can only imagine how delicious this would be in a beer cocktail. I'm thinking take this and add a little spiced rum?? Kind of like a captain and root beer?? Can you even fathom how delicious that would be?? And so super dangerous. But who cares......yummmmmmmmmm.

So tell me, what do you think?? Would you drink this? Any suggestions for beer cocktails with it?

#ThurstyThursday: Sweetwater Blue

This week has just taken a dump on my good mood. I'm so scatterbrained and all over the place at the moment I literally almost walked out to the car without shoes on yesterday.

This week we didn't get the opportunity to try a new cocktail, but we did try out a new beer!
Ever heard of Sweetwater Brewing Company? It's located in Georgia and I've heard nothing but great things about their beers. To be honest, I haven't had many of them, but I recently tried their blueberry beer cleverly named, Blue. We have been eyeing it up for some time and finally decided to try it out. I'm a sucker for fruity summer beers and this one did not disappoint. It was the perfect way to bring up my mood and the beautiful sun-shiny day we were having.

This beer was delicious. It was light and refreshing with just the right amount of blueberry to taste, but not overwhelm. I drank this one right out of the bottle, but I can only imagine how delicious it would be on draft. Can't wait for another batch. Maybe even muddle some blueberries in the bottom of my glass first. Mmmmmmm.

#ThurstyThursday: Strawberry Daiqui-Beer

Happy #ThurstyThursday!!

I know a few weeks back I did the Raspberry Beer Cocktail, but I'm doing another one today. Mainly because this one was soooo much better than the other one. Mmmmm. It's kind of along the same lines, but it tastes so yummy!!

The idea actually came to Mike while he was buying me all the ingredients for my other beer cocktail. Unfortunately, since he had already bought the other ingredients, I told him to come on home and we would make it another day. And he proceeded to explain that he was very upset with me that I hadn't thought of this before we bought the other stuff. My bad, Goob.....my bad.

Anywhooos. This is such an awesome cocktail beer ....what do we call these??? Beer cocktail is such a stupid name....any suggestions? I need help. I'm not clever at the moment. But....it's got just the right amount of strawberry flavor but you taste the beer, too. And since it's a bocktail (??? stupid right? Come on and help me!!) it tends to sneak up from behind and kick you right in the ass.

And wait until you see the magic ingredient!! I hope you enjoy!!

Strawberry Daiqui-beer
1 cup fresh strawberries
1/2 cup vodka
3/4 can limeade concentrate, thawed
1 shot strawberry daiquiri mix
3 cold Coronas

Add strawberries to a pitcher and muddle just a little. Then add vodka, limeade concentrate, daiquiri mix, and beer. Stir gently just a little. Pour and enjoy!! Cheers!!

#ThurstyThursday: Raspberry Beer Cocktail

Happy Thursday! Are you thursty yet? Because you're about to be with this one!

It's been so absolutely gorgeous over these past few days and this weekend. It rained a little but my plants could totally have used it and now they are blooming beautifully!!

This week I tried out another beer cocktail. I loved the last one and since it's so nice outside I thought I would make something we could keep in a pitcher and just pour. We usually have our goto Arnold Palmeranians stocked up in the fridge but they're getting a little old lately, so this is a great change.

One thing that's really nice about this is how refreshing it is. Beer sometimes bloats me in the summertime but it's so much easier to grab a beer and do yard work then have to keep track of your cocktail and keep mixing. This is a little of the best of both worlds.

And the raspberry. I love how it adds just enough flavor without overpowering the cocktail with a fruity taste. It keeps it light, but blends in nicely with the pink lemonade.

Raspberry Beer Cocktail
1 cup raspberries, frozen or fresh
2/3 container pink lemonade concentrate, or raspberry lemonade concentrate.
1/2 cup vodka
3 Coronas

Add raspberries and muddle just a little. Add pink lemonade, and vodka to pitcher. Mix well. Pour Coronas into mixture. Enjoy!! Cheers!

#ThurstyThursday: Shocktop Twisted Pretzel Wheat

Shocktop is doing some 'ish lately, let me just tell you. I'm so in love with the Honeycrisp Apple Wheat and just saw they came out with a Spiced Banana Wheat. That will be in my mouth in a short matter of time, believe that. But just recently I tried the Twisted Pretzel Wheat and it sure is interesting.
Source
You can take that with whatever you want. I tried it out with a few other people and there were mixed reviews. I, however, just happen to love it. I really don't have a lot of words for it other than "interesting". If you're someone who loves something salty with your beer, you will like this. You can definitely taste the pretzel in the aftertaste, and it's got a hint of salt, almost like you salted the rim.

Shocktop.com describes Twisted Pretzel Wheat by saying "This new beer delivers the delicious taste and aroma of bakery-fresh pretzels in a Belgian-style, unfiltered wheat ale." and that's pretty spot on. I can't wait to try this while eating actual soft pretzels with mustard. It would probably be perfect for a day at the ballpark!!

Has anyone else tried this? What did you think?

#ThurstyThursday: Beer-ry Vodka Spritzer

Cheers!! It's Thursty Thursday!!

I have to admit, I can't take full credit for this drink. This past weekend we stayed in Ocean City with two other couples to celebrate Valentine's Day. One of the chicks suggested Happy Hour in her room before dinner and she made this awesome drink. I knew right away I had to share it for #ThurstyThursday. Plus, the two ladies just found out about this blog so...what better way to keep them reading than to mention them first thing in my #ThurstyThursday blog post, right?!? Hey Steph and Kristin!! Now I just hope they're reading. haha.

This is such a refreshing drink. Again, perfect for a summer party!! And, this recipe makes a whole pitcher, so...it's pretty cheap, too, considering.

Beer-ry Vodka Spritzer
Ingredients:
• 3 light beers (I used Corona, Steph used Coors...both good)
• 1 cup vodka
• 1/2 can (or more) limeade from concentrate
• frozen mixed berries (however much you want. I did maybe a cup.)

Put vodka, limeade, and berries into blender. Blend until smooth. Pour into pitcher. Add beers. Stir slowly. Enjoy!!

#ThurstyThursday!

Oops, sorry guys! Forgot to push the publish button!

Happy Thursday! Let me see your dranks!

This week I thought I would change it up a little bit and do a beer review. Mike and I decided to pick this up last week. We were looking for something a little heavier but not too creamy. This was perfect.

We used to drink Sam Adams all the time. Then we kind of got away from it after we felt like all their new beer tasted the same. It just felt like they weren't coming out with anything new and improved. I have to admit we were a little hesitant with this one, too, but we pulled the trigger and were not disappointed.

Sam Adams Escape Route
Source
"Escaping from winter’s darkness, this hazy golden, unfiltered Kölsch style creates a fresh start. Our take on the classic hybrid style from Cologne Germany combines the subtle fruit notes of an ale with the smooth crispness of a lager for a bright, refreshing brew to help escape those lingering cold days."
This is the description straight from the website, and since it pretty much said what I was going to. I'll leave it at that. It's a must try winter beer!!

My co-host this week is the blogger formerly known as Spunkee Belle. She has a new blog called Creatively Dysfunctional. A few weeks ago she linked up how to make rainbow shots and it was amazing. I have only seen this done one other time and it was awesome to see how I might even be able to do it myself. If you want sass and a lot of personality Krystal's the one to give it to you. Be sure to head on over and check her out.

Weekend Recap....on Wednesday

Don't forget tomorrow is St. Patty's Day here at Hopelessly Ever After!!
Click here for the details and come back tomorrow to link up your St. Patty's Day party ideas!!

Mike and I had an awesome weekend! It was gorgeous out and we did it up the right way!! Friday night Mike had to work so when he got home on Saturday he slept. It's always kind of a bummer on a nice day when Mike is sleeping because I get bored. But luckily he woke up pretty early and we meal planned, went grocery shopping, and then had a car wash!!! Well, only for our own cars, of course. haha. But it was a good time.

After all that exertion we went inside and he took a quick nap. The we grilled some burgers and watched some Chopped episodes before he had to go back into work.

Sunday, however, was awesome!! After he got up we got ourselves dressed and ready for a date day! We haven't had an official date day in so long and we were so pumped. We headed to the IMAX theater, got ourselves some tickets, and then walked to a nearby brewery for lunch. Since it had been so long we decided to do it up a little and got ourselves a flight of beer samples and then chose one for a pitcher. Then we ordered our food and gorged!

After that we headed back to the theater....maybe a little tipsy...and watched 300 Rise of an Empire in IMAX 3D. Can I just say I love IMAX 3D. haha. Especially when there are chiseled abs and plump booties in your face for 2 hours. LOVE!! It was an awesome time and we had a blast.

I can't wait until this weekend. It's not supposed to be as nice but it's still supposed to be great and he's off all weekend so PARTY TIME!!

It's Thirsty Thursday!!

YUM YUM IN MY TUM TUM!! It's Thirsty Thursday!!!

This week it is my privilege to introduce you to my cohost Jessica!! Jessica blogs over at Blissfully Miller. Please do me and yourself a favor and head over there to check out her food stuffs. She does a linkup called Taste of Tuesday. And all I can say is YUM!! (Excuse me while I wipe the drool from my mouth.) You've got to check out her house, too!! You may not know but I love me some DIY and she has done some super simple but beautiful accents to her home. Go stop by and check her out!! Oh and...she's a wine dranker, too. :))))

Well, the weather is getting cooler!! It's so funny. When it's winter I'm a bitch because I want it to be summer. But, when it's summer, I'm a bitch because it's too hot. haha. My poor husband. Not really...

Truthfully, my favorite weather is that time between September and November. I looooove October. You still have those warm days, but you can break out the cute cardigans for the evening. It's awesome weather for camping!! You have warm days where you can still sit outside and not freeze, but you get to light that firepit and cuddle with your snugglebug boy toy in the tent. My favorite. P.S. We better freakin go this year!!

I'm not just rambling...I promise. I have a point here...

Another reason I love the fall is because....
FREAKIN AWESOME BEERS!!!

I love pumpkin beer, so I love to try new kinds of pumpkin beer. In the past I've gone to the good ole' goto Sams Octoberfest. I truthfully thought I would never find anything better. Until Mike brought home this...

SHIPYARD PUMPKINHEAD

OH MY GOODNEEESS!!! (Say it like Sheneneh from Martin)

This beer is delish!! It's lighter than most pumpkin beers. The thing I disliked most about Sam's Octoberfest is that it hits you in your throat. You can't drink a lot of them because they are heavy.

Not Pumpkinhead. Sooo good. And the best part...the CINNAMON!! You can actually taste straight cinnamon!! And you best believe you can drank these alllllll niiiiggghhhttt looooonnnnggg!!

It might have happened last night. :)

So go get you some!! Pumpkinhead that is. *wink, wink*

Now go lank that drank!!

And don't forget!! I need cohosts so if your summer is winding down and you have some free time. Let me know. I try to make it super easy!!

Thirsty Thursday!! The Liquid Medicating Version

I almost didn't make it this week, but...IT'S THIRSTY THURSDAY!!

Hopelessly Ever After

My cohost this week is the awesome Brittany! Brittany blogs over at Wine, Cheese, and Workout Capris, the blog formerly known as Busy Girl Health. In the past she has linked up with some awesome low calorie shots!! SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS, SHOTS! I can't wait to see what she has in store for us this week. I know it will be AMAZEBALLS!! Head on over and check her out!

This week was our Monday for Happy Hour! We found this awesome Happy Hour at a local restaurant/bar in our town. They always have great drafts and awesome specials on mixed drinks. Everything is 1/2 off and wings are 50 cents!!

I decided to try one of the summer beers they had on tap. I always love summer beers because they are light and delicious. This one was no disappointment.

Victory Summer Love
Via

Victory is a brewing company that's fairly local. They're located in Pennsylvania and the bars near us always have some of their beers on tap. I had seen this one last time but had an Orange Crush instead. I was happy to see they still had it this week.

Summer Love is a light beer. It kind of reminds me of Summer Shandy only not as much of the lemon aftertaste. It's perfect for a hot summer day, and has a refreshing citrusy aroma. Sooo good!! You have to try it!

OK now it's your turn!!

Don't forget...everyone who links up every week during the month of August will get a free "Sip" ad space on my blog!!

And...Don't forget to stop by the blog tomorrow for a GIVEAWAY!!
